From  Sept 2010, Alene Telfer and Louise Smith – Kibaris formerly of The Stirlingshire Saddlery Company have split from their fellow director Ian Simpson and formed and new sister company called Stirlingshire Saddle Fitters.

Alene and Louise were originally in business with Ian’s wife Suzannah who tragically died in 2006 from cancer, leaving Ian to inherit her share of the company.  Due to many other family and farming commitments Ian wanted to scale down his role within Stirlingshire Saddlery and suggested that Alene and Louise took the saddle fitting and show unit side off for themselves.

Alene and Louise have been in the trade for 23 years and are both Society of Master Saddlers Qualified Saddle Fitters, they travel from Northern England to Orkney checking and fitting saddles.   The Show Unit is on the road from April until September attending British Eventing competitions providing all the goods that riders have forgotten or need.

After the first year of starting out on their own Stirlingshire Saddle Fitters moved home from their base in Wallyford, East Lothian (originally the Edinburgh base for Stirlingshire Saddlery), to the Stirling Agricultural Market in Stirling. Long standing employee Helen Jamieson has joined forces with Alene and Louise to man the desk and phones there.   All the saddles have moved there too.

Alene and Louise would like to thank Ian Simpson and his family for all the support they gave us during the years and wish them all the best for the future.

Testimonials

"I have to say that the dressage saddle was worth the wait. I may need some advice on maintaining the buffalo suede leather, but for riding purposes, it has finally gotten me a way to ride my filly without sliding forward, and it puts me where I need to be. Thanks to both of you for shepherding it through to the US, and I look forward to seeing you in March. Thank you"

''I want to thank you for letting me borrow Louise and Alene today. I was amazed by the quality and service and time they both dedicated in helping my quest for the perfect saddle. The saddles were all so impressive and I have finally found a saddle ( two saddles) that I feel so safe and fits my horse. I will finally be able to start some serious riding  and feel secure and safe in a perfectly crafted saddle that will feel good to my horse. Thank you for helping me get in contact with Alene and Louise, it truly exceeded my expectations! I look forward in my future riding and truly thankful to Falconwood to making my 30th birthday gift ( 2 saddles) such a wonderful experience;)'

“I have been using a Stirlingshire saddle for the past eight years.  It is still in excellent condition and could not be more comfortable for me and my horse – no more back pain for either of us.  I also appreciate the fact that Alene & Louise visit twice a year in case there is any adjustment necessary. Thank you and I wish you continued success!”
